Monday 11th Febraury - Egg Drop Challenge

Today we had a terrific day. We watched a You Tube clip called 'Egg Drop Challenge'. In it 5 primary schools in America had to design creations that would protect an egg that was dropped from a very high height. There were some cool designs and we enjoyed watching the eggs fall to see which ones would not break and which ones did. You can see the clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKQntlsJ_KQ - We then got into groups and designed and created our own egg protectors. Once they were made we dropped them from the fort. All of the eggs managed to survive the fall. Mr Powell climbed even higher to drop them and they all still survided. It was great fun. Check out the pics.

Welcome to 2013

Hi Everyone,

A warm welcome to Room 6 for 2013. Wow, I can't believe that we have alredy had our first school day of the new year. The children all seem very pleased to be back (and so do I), it was a shame that the weather was so wet after all of the terrific sunshine that we have had so far this year.

You will have recieved a school newsletter as well as a welcome note to Room 6 and the Middle Syndicate. There are some important dates on there (e.g. swimming and the parent's evening) - so add these to your diaries. I have also requested your e-mail addresses so that I can send notes and requests home, so please make sure that you send these back to school with your child as soon as possible.

I will be adding photos to the blog during the course of the year, so keep on coming back to check it out.

On the right hand side of the screen there are many different games that the children can play to help them with a range of topics and interests.

Our library day is Thursdays, we visited the library today and each child issued 2 chapter books. These books will stay at school and will form part of their own individual 'fun reading/book boxes'. We are beginning a new reading programme in Room 6 this year called the 'Daily 5'. I will share more information with you about this as the year progresses.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come in and see me, or send me an e-mail.
Thanks for your support
